Director Biography

Analisa Rodriguez is the Director of Bands and Middle School Music at St. Mark's School of Texas appointed in 2022. Previously, Ms. Rodriguez was a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas as the instructor of record for the Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion Methods Course as well as the Teaching Assistant for the High School and Middle School Band Methods Course. She also conducted the Denton New Horizons Band under the direction of Dr. Debbie Rohwer. Ms. Rodriguez is a third year doctoral student working on her PhD in Music Education at the University of North Texas.
Prior to Ms. Rodriguez recent appointment, she was an assistant band director at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, TX from 2016-2021. During her time at Alamo Heights, Ms. Rodriguez was the visual and marching instructor for the Mighty Mule Band. Ms. Rodriguez directed the Concert Band and assisted the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, all ensembles earning superior ratings in UIL Concert Contest and Sight-Reading. Ms. Rodriguez directed the Alamo Heights Jazz Band leading the group in various community performances and festivals. While Ms. Rodriguez primary responsibilities were at the high school, she was the lead teacher for beginner trumpets at the junior school and assisted in the beginner clarinet and horn class.
Ms. Rodriguez completed her Master's of Music Education degree at the University of North Texas in Denton where she researched Special Education in the Secondary Instrumental Classroom as well as Motivation, Pressure, and Enjoyment with the UIL Process and Performance. Her current research involves Music Meets Masculinity: An Ethnography of an All-Boys Band Program. Ms. Rodriguez has presented her research a the 2022 Instrumental Music Teacher Education Conference, 2022 National Association for Music Education Conference, 2022 Texas Music Educators Association Conference, 2022 Disabilities Studies & Music Education, and has been invited to present for the 2023 Society of Music Teachers Education Conference.
Ms. Rodriguez graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Music, Cum Laude. During her time at Trinity, Ms. Rodriguez participated in the Trinity Wind Ensemble, Trinity Orchestra, Trinity Jazz Band, Trinity Brass Quintet, Voix d’Espirit Choir, Pit Orchestra for the musical Three Penny Opera, and the Trinity Stand Band. She also served as the President for Collegiate Texas Music Educators Association and is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Private School Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, and Texas Bandmaster Association.
During the summers of 2012, 2014, and 2015, Ms. Rodriguez participated in Drum Corps International where she was a member of Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps as a trumpet player (2012) and a member of Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps as a mellophone player (2014, 2015). Ms. Rodriguez also taught at Central Catholic High School as an intern from 2012-2014. In 2015, Ms. Rodriguez served as a marching band technician for Byron P. Steele II High School in Cibolo, TX.
In 2021, Ms.Rodriguez was a marching band technician at Braswell High School in Aubrey, TX. She was a private lesson trumpet instructor for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD working with the students at Ranchview High School and Barbara Bush Middle School. She also substituted for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Young Musicians Program as a Brass Instructor.
Ms. Rodriguez is a native of San Antonio and is very excited to explore the DFW/Denton area. In her free time, Ms. Rodriguez enjoys traveling, being outdoors, reading, swing dancing, playing tennis, pottery and ceramics, and taking care of her dogs Beauty and Copper. Ms. Rodriguez is thrilled to be working with the students and faculty at St. Mark's School of Texas and looks forward to creating meaningful music with the students and community.
